MAN'S HEIRS TO RECEIVE MILLIONS

The Montgomery Advertiser

MOBILE -- The heirs of a Mobile man killed in a car wreck will receive an $ 8.5 million settlement because of his 1996 death.

Leslie Maury Radcliff, 33, was killed in June 1996 when a tractor-trailer rig belonging to Camco International crashed into his four-wheel-drive vehicle.

Radcliff's family sued Houston-based Camco last year. The law firm,

Cunningham, Bounds, Yance, Crowder & Brown, will receive $ 3.2 million of the settlement, Mobile County Court records show.

Attorney Joseph Brown said that, had the case gone to trial, the plaintiffs would have shown the rig was significantly overweight and the company knew the truck couldn't be legally driven on the road where the crash occurred.

Radcliff's widow, Ashley Radcliff, will receive $ 2.5 million.
