BOYS & GIRLS CLUBS RECEIVE ACJF GRANT

Anti-youth violence and substance-abuse prevention programs at area Boys & Girls Clubs received a grant from the Alabama Civil Justice Foundation

The Foundation, which consists of 1,200 lawyers across Alabama, gave $3,500 to the Boys & Girls Clubs in Daphne, Foley and Fairhope.

The Boys & Girls Clubs of South Alabama will use the ACJF grant to fund their SECOND STEP Violence Prevention and SMART Moves substance-abuse and teen pregnancy prevention programs.

The ACJF award was presented to the three Baldwin County Boys & Girls Clubs unit directors by James Yance, and attorney with Cunningham, Bounds, Yance, Crowder & Brown law firm in Mobile. The grant was among 84 programs across the state receiving a total of $200,304 from the ACJF this cycle, said Yance.

The ACJF was established in 1993 through the efforts of the Alabama Trial Lawyers Association and has provided more than $2,468,035 to charitable organizations, according to Yance. The Foundation receives funds from interest on lawyers' trust accounts and contributions from the legal community and awards grants to deserving groups across Alabama.
