NATIONAL GUARD - UPDATE-SECTION 603 OF PENDING 2007 NDAA MIGHT UNDO COURT OF APPEALS DECISION HOLDING THAT GUARD MEMBERS ARE ENTITLED TO COMPENSATION
Without a vote, the Senate Armed Services Committee, at the behest of the Department of Defense, has added into the giant 2007 National Defense Authorization bill (S. 2766), Section 603, which seeks to undo the Court’s decision and extinguish the legally established rights of National Guard members at a time when they are performing extraordinary service to our country at home and abroad.
This bill is coming up for a floor vote in the next few days. Many senators are not even aware of the negative consequences of this section, or the fact that it interferes with a pending court case.
TAKE ACTION NOW!! WHAT YOU CAN DO TO PROTECT GUARD MEMBERS' RIGHTS:
Contact the National Guard Association of the United States and encourage them to get involved in defeating this legislation.
Contact your Senator and encourage him or her to defeat Section 603 by supporting Senate Amendment 4455 to Senate Bill 2766.
