Baby Powder & Shower to Shower Linked to Ovarian Cancer

|

Each year approximately 20,000 American women are diagnosed with ovarian cancer and about 14,500 die from it, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).

Epidemiologic studies have found an elevated risk for ovarian cancer in women who use talcum powder in the genital area. For decades, Dr. Daniel W. Cramer, who heads the Obstetrics and Gynecology Epidemiology Center at Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston, has unsuccessfully called for warning labels on talcum powder. He first reported a link between genital talc and ovarian cancer in 1982.

Unfortunately, women continue to use talc products such as Johnson & Johnson Baby Powder and Shower to Shower body powder without knowing the risk to their health. The situation is equivalent to the tobacco companies – knowing that research showed a link between smoking and lung cancer – yet not informing the public.

If you or someone in your family has been diagnosed with ovarian cancer after using talc-based powder products such as baby powder or body powder, please give us a call at 251-471-6191. We will be happy to evaluate your particular situation, free of charge.
