The personal injury attorneys of Cunningham Bounds announced today that the law firm will serve as Host Sponsor for the 2016 “Parade of 3s” benefitting McKemie Place, Mobile’s shelter for homeless women. The parade will take place on Saturday, Dec. 10 at 2:00 p.m., and will begin at B.C. Rain High School and end at Palmer Pillans Middle School on Military Road.
The holiday “Parade of 3s” was created by Mobile City Councilman C.J. Small and State Rep. Barbara Drummond. The Holiday “Parade of 3s” was created to showcase the Dauphin Island Parkway area in Mobile with its inaugural parade being in 2015. “Parade of 3s” comes from Councilman Small’s district being the third, and Rep. Drummond’s district being 103. Last year’s parade had 36 units parading, with an estimated attendance of 15,000.
“Rep. Drummond and I decided to make our annual Parade a fundraiser for non-profits in our districts, and we unanimously decided that McKemie Place was a very worthy charity for proceeds from Parade sponsorships to be donated to,” Small said.
McKemie Place is the Region’s only temporary, emergency overnight shelter serving unaccompanied homeless women. The non-profit agency assists single homeless women in Baldwin, Mobile and Washington counties in Alabama. “I am honored that our Shelter has been chosen to benefit from such an exciting event,” said McKemie Place Executive Director Jessica James. “What a wonderfully unique opportunity to educate others on the great work McKemie Place does,” she stated.
