Cunningham Bounds Verdict Ranks #4 in National Law Journal Hall of Fame

That’s why we were proud to learn that the National Law Journal has ranked one of our largest verdicts in State of Alabama v. ExxonMobil as #4 in its Hall of Fame.

The National Law Journal Hall of Fame covers the past 15 years of verdicts across the entire country and includes the top 100 most significant cases. Winning $11.9 billion on behalf of the State of Alabama Department of Conservation and Natural Resources, our team at Cunningham Bounds was instrumental in securing fair compensation for the government after ExxonMobil illegally deprived the state of natural gas production royalties.

Although the first trial was decided in favor of the state at $3.5 billion, the Alabama Supreme Court remanded the case, resulting in a second trial. Together with our colleagues at Beasley Allen, Cunningham Bounds was successful in re-trying the case, securing an even higher verdict at $11.9 billion in the end.
